Purple and black energy coils up around Lineera, drawn from the very stones of the keep, and the bolt of energy fires into the undead creature in front of her.
The plants shudder and fall off, revealing a normal skeleton as bark drops off in sheets from the bones. When it's done, a normal skeleton stands before Lineera, teeth chattering and bones clacking.
Lineera has control of the skeleton for 5 rounds. The plants, not being undead, are not affected by her channel, but they also can't merge with the skeleton anymore.

And with my unused move action.
Lineera passes her new friend her sickle. "Attack!" She points at the skeleton facing Riley, then in a louder voice. "We're coming Riley, hold on!"

Everyone was right up on the creatures, she couldn't hit one without hitting someone else. With a slightly irritated noise, Eva moved to cover the stairs, pulling out an acid flask as she did so. She'd have used fire, if it didn't risk setting them all ablaze. If there was something upstairs, or down she was ready to hit it, and hopefully the one in front of Riley at the same time.

Eva is going to watch the stairs this round, ready to throw. She'd rather not hit anyone right now.

Riley's blade slams into the skeleton, and saws through the tough vines and shatters bone. The combination of bone and vine seems to be the only thing that saved it from being completely destroyed by the massive and well placed hit. As it was, the skeleton seems to be on it's last legs.
Mahb |
Seeing that Riley and Lineera seem to have one of the skeletons almost beat, Mahb moves to assist Kejl holding the monster at bay in the other room. She steps up behind the warrior and sends her hair snaking past to bind around the skeletal figure.

Mahb |
Mahb snorts at the warrior, "Not hardly. Let'em bunch up on those stairs. That'll be a hell of a lot easier for us than battling them upstairs or down." She raises her voice and addresses the vine-riding voice in her typical crotchety tone. "We'll be along when we're ready. You'll have to wait... or send your little friends and we'll pulp them. Mahb looks at the skeleton Kjel hammered into the floor. "That one ain't comin' back. We've got fewer bodies here than were downstairs. Someone keep watch on the stairs."

Only two, a Withdraw action makes the first step safe regardless. The acrobatics check is for the second two. And honestly, I got one route out, and it's AoO bonanza or stay in there and hope for the best. I think I'll take my chances with the running. :/ Unless I can take a Diagonal 5 foot step into the stairway, I'm either surrounded, or provoking. My odds are pretty terrible either way right now...
Unless I double check the rules and notice that Channel Energy doesn't provoke! Let's go with that, stay in position, hope for the best, and see how many of these guys I can control with my AoE of screw you zombie doom. :) Will Save is still the DC 17. (If I can shunt myself into the stairway and let Kjel be a good meatshield and all, I'll also do that)
Mahb |
Did these skellies come out of the plants or were they created from them?
Mahb turns in time to see the creatures emerge from the plants. She eyes them with surprise trying to determine if they are some strange plant mimicking the undead or if somehow the shrub-voice managed to create true undead from plants... an impressive feat.
Regardless of the answer, her patented scowl never leaves the hag's face. Her hair retreats from the coffin as Mahb rushes to the aid of her allies. She hustles over towards Eva even as magical phrases escape her lips. She leers maliciously and says, "Is that smoke I smell?" Her words become prophetic as a gout of flame erupts from her hand and passes in front of the faces of her allies as it scours across three of the plant/skeletons. She cackles in delight.

No Eva, Mahb told you earlier to use fire or acid to burn out the plants that got into people (remember the vampire moss).
Kjel hits the skeleton in front of him, and slams his blade into it. The thick heavy vines seem to yield to the blade, but the blade is then stopped by the bones they are wrapped up in, making the blow much less effective.
As he hits the skeleton, more seeds fling loose and the pods explode on contact.
Everyone make a reflex DC 8 reflex to avoid getting hit by seeds. Easier since Kjel didn't knock off every seed on the skeleton at once like Lineera did.

I think Eva also just makes it in front of the Skellies from the look of it, MDT. :) And now, for Lineera to thematically have her revelation...
Lineera gasps for air as the plants rip and tear through her skin. "No..." The word comes out in a gasp. "No, no, no, no no NO NO!" Her voice becomes more intense, more panicked, more wracked with the thrashing of a dying beast. And then, death takes her... but not as you might expect. The energy from the tower surges forward again, this time however, it doesn't surge towards the skeletons, but towards Lineera herself. The drow seems to almost turn to mist, as the light seems to bend, and then fade around her. Then, from in the darkness, Lineera's voice, yet distorted and warped, comes out of the darkness. "PHARASMA CURSE YOU! NOW DESTROY THESE THINGS!" As the proclamation is made, the darkness seems to roil and feed into itself, towards its center.
Necromantic Healing: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Okay, well... as I am wont to do when my characters are on death's door, MDT, let's see if some creative problem solving will save the day. I have just activated my new Revelation, Energy Body, and am using it to heal. For one, I'm simply buying time obviously, but for two... I've noticed that plants don't tend to grow in bodies of pure energy that well. As a foreign object, is it possible for Lineera's change to a somewhat incorporeal state to be a method of ejecting the plants from her body? ...Please? :P
Also, for everyone else... I kind of just threw a mini-supernatural darkness over the whole area... Sorry! Lineera was panicking (I was too for that matter)! But we got more AoE than they do!
mdt |
Everyone within 10 feet of Lineera is now in darkness. It's not supernatural darkness, because the tower had enough ambient light from sun shining through windows and cracks to be dimly lit in this area. If it had been night time, the darkness would have been supernatural. If you have darkvision, you can see fine around Lineera.
The plants inside Lineera dont' seem affected by the necromantic energy Imagine that, plants that thrive in necromantic energies aren't harmed by them. :) But, they do fall out of Lineera's body and onto the ground, to writhe around before dying from lack of food.
Junior, not having been ordered to do anything, stands there like a good skelly, even though he's really an evil Skelly.
