knowledge nature or arcana: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23

Artificial Intelligence

You know that the creatures are Flash Beetles. They have no particular weaknesses and are immune to mind-affecting effects. They produce a glow, even after death, and they can produce a bright flash that dazzles.

Tural takes a shot at the one near him. (blue)

attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 likely misses, but just in case

He then backs out of the room and calls Thandrus to fight.

thandrus bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Artificial Intelligence

Tural's attack misses, but Tigger's attack hits and kills the blue beetle. The beetle continues to glow.

The red beetle moves up to Tigger and bites.

Bite (attack): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Bite (damage): 1d4 ⇒ 1

Thandrus' rocky skin absorbs the beetle's attack. DR5/Adamantine.

Thandrus will full attack.
bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Tural will wait and see if the beetle survives.

Artificial Intelligence

The beetle dies, and continues to glow.

Tural will move into the room and search for goodies.

mongoose perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Tural perception: 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 12 + 2 = 15

Artificial Intelligence

There appears to be nothing in the room except the corpses of the beetles. Tural sees what looks like some dirt through the archway.

Tural will explore the room cautiously. (take 10 perception = 22)

Artificial Intelligence

This room contains the bugs' midden heap. You see various items mixed into the pile from previous (long dead) adventurers.

48 gp, 409 sp, 1010 cp
354 gp worth of gems
Scroll of Inflict Light Wounds (cr, 25 gp)

Tural will explore the room cautiously. (take 10 perception = 22)

Then he will check the east door.
mongoose perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Tural perception: 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 12 + 2 = 20

Artificial Intelligence

You don't find anything else in the room. The door is locked but does not appear to be trapped.

Tural will cast guidance, then attempt to unlock the door.

disable device: 1d20 + 13 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 13 + 1 = 17

Artificial Intelligence

I assume you have thieves tools?

The door is still locked.

I forgot to mention that he drew them

Before his first attempt, Tural would have put away his bow and drawn his MW Thieve's Tools.

He will now try again.

Cast Guidance, then:
attempt 2: 1d20 + 13 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 13 + 1 = 19

And again.
Cast Guidance, then:
attempt 2: 1d20 + 13 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 13 + 1 = 22

If this one fails:

Failing this attempt he would spend the time to take 20. Result being 33, and taking 10 minutes.

Artificial Intelligence

On the third attempt you manage to unlock the door. It opens onto a hallway that turns off to the left. On the right side there is a floor-to-ceiling mirror.

Tural continues on, exploring carefully (perception 22).

Artificial Intelligence

The other end of the hallway has another mirror, producing an infinite hallway illusion. It appears to be a dead end.

He will walk to the end of the hallway, looking for secret doors or traps.

Tural perception: 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 12 + 2 = 31

Artificial Intelligence

He discovers a secret stone door, that is locked.

Tural will pull out this tools, cast guidance, and attempt to unlock the door.

disable: 1d20 + 13 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 13 + 1 = 28

Artificial Intelligence

He fails to unlock the door.

He will go ahead and take 20 to open the door. Result: 33.

Artificial Intelligence

-.- fiiiiiine. The door opens and the dungeon explodes and you die forever with all of your loot.

The door slowly swings open to reveal a large well-lit room. There are multiple large mirrors on the walls. On the other end of the room there is what looks like a broken idol or statue.

Tural moves into the room and looks around.

mongoose assist: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Tural perception: 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 12 + 2 = 28

Artificial Intelligence

There are two large pieces broken from the idol laying on the ground. In the mirrors you see reflections of loot that is not visible in the room itself. As you are looking at the loot in the mirror a vague humanoid figure creeps up behind your reflection - but when you turn to look there is nothing there.

Tural will try again to see if he can spot anything.

perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14

Finding nothing, he yells. Thandrus, detect!"

Thandrus will move up and search for a threat using scent.

perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

Artificial Intelligence

Neither of you can find anything in the room. When you turn back to the mirror you can no longer see the mysterious figure.

"Thandrus, guard."

The tiger readies itself to attack anything it sees/smells.

Tural will then move up to the broken pieces and try to gather anything of value.

Artificial Intelligence

The idol and pieces do not seem to be valuable. There looks to be text on the idol, but it is unreadable without the other pieces.

Frustrated, Tural will damage all of the mirrors.

He will cast acid splash several times on the north mirror.

acid damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3
acid damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3
acid damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1
acid damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3
acid damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3

Acid ignores hardness and does damage straight to the object's HP

Artificial Intelligence

The mirror fogs as the acid eats at it, and once it has eaten clean through in enough places it falls apart and smashes on the floor. Nothing else happens.

Artificial Intelligence

The idol looks like it was smashed by some kind of weapon. The break was clean, it looks like the pieces would fit back together fairly well.

Tural will gather the pieces of statue together, 'gluing' them back together with several castings of the mending spell.

Reconsidering his brash assault on the mirror, he will do the same to the mirror as well.

Artificial Intelligence

The mending spell is almost unnecessary for the idol due to the tight fit. As you are mending the mirror you notice a glow out of the corner of your eye. A loud THUMP shakes you as the world goes dark (even to you) for a fraction of a second. When your vision returns the art objects visible in the mirrors have appeared in the room.

You also see creatures appear in the room. One is shadowy and covered completely in a cloak. The rest appear to be a set of 3 identical creatures moving in perfect sync with each other all within a 5' radius.

The cloaked creature misses his attack on Tigger.

The three identical creatures slam Tural. He takes 6 damage.

I need to roll for these guys in secret for the moment... for reasons... Roll initiative.

init: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

Artificial Intelligence

you go first, barely

Tural will tumble to the northwest corner, drawing his bow as he moves. He will shoot the northern creature.

acrobatics: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
can't edit map on mobile

Thandrus will full attack the northern creature.

bow: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21 damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20 damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Artificial Intelligence

I have a feeling I goofed on this guy a bit, so I'm not going to push my luck. I'm going to just say you will saved.

The arrow hits dead center of the creature... and passes straight through unhindered. Similarly, Tigger's attacks have no effect. Having outlived its usefulness the image dissipates.

The identical triplets move to Tural and attack, still all in sync.
Slam (attack): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Slam (damage): 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Tural will look over the triplets and try to discern if the multiple copies are illusions.
spellcraft: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
fail

Tural will tumble away again.
acrobatics: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21

He will then shoot the triplets.
attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Thandrus will move up and attack.
bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
damn

Artificial Intelligence

Tural hits one of the triplets, but the arrow just passes through and the image dissipates.

The twins then reach out and touch the mirror. They are immediately absorbed into the mirror and disappear from the room.

"You want to run? OK. I'll just take your stuff."

Tural starts loading anything of value into Thandrus' saddlebags.

Artificial Intelligence

The twins exit the mirror next to Tural, but they now look like exact mirror images of him. They grin maliciously.

They attack.
Slam (attack): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Slam (damage): 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
I think you'd be flat footed? It would probably hit anyway, but still.

Tural tumbles away and fires.

acrobatics: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18

bow: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Thandrus will move in and bite.

bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Artificial Intelligence

Tural's shot causes the last image to dissipate. Tigger's bite takes first blood.

Tural's doppelganger slips back into the mirror.

Tural goes back to looting.

Artificial Intelligence

The doppelganger reappears from another mirror, moves forward, and attacks.

atk: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
dmg: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Tural tumbles away and fires.

acrobatics: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21

bow: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Thandrus 5 foot step and full attack.

bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
bite confirmation: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
crit damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Artificial Intelligence

At the end of Tigger's first bite the creature explodes into a wave of shattered glass.

Glass shard dmg: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 3) = 9
All of you are in range. ref save DC12 for half
Can your mongoose take dmg?

Once the creature dies cracks appear on all the mirrors in the room. The cracks grow and spiderweb across the glass, and with a crash they all slam into the floor at once. The idol subtly glows a dark red along where the cracks used to be from when it was broken.

Roll a knowledge arcana or spellcraft check

Tural reflex: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19 4 taken
Thandrus reflex: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 9 taken

The mongoose is in a familiar pouch, usually they don't take damage in those cases.

Kn Arcana: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
