just an FYI on my logic for the Knowledge Local check. Proudstump is an infrequent visitor to Sandpoint, coming around once every three months but you may have been working at the Dragon, drinking at the Dragon when he's come in and heard his tale.

Since the three of you beat his check handedly, Liu, Lina and Takeshi get to act before round 1 or you can choose to do something else.

Takeshi's eyes narrow as he steps towards the halfling, his hands now gripping his katana firmly.

"Who are you really? I've met Proudstump... and it's Walthus, not Reginald, by the way. You may look like him, but you are not him and I know he has no brothers. Where is Walthus and what have you done to him?"

"Faceless stalker!" Liu Na cries, stepping forward to stand defensively next to Takeshi as she slashes at the creature impersonating Proudstump.

I'm assuming that being a halfling-sized house this room is small enough that a 5 ft step places Liu Na adjacent to 'Proudstump' and Takeshi. Standard action to attack flat-footed shapeshifter.

"Something's wrong, he's not even a halfling!" Seeing Liu Na attacking, Lina steps up to do the same, swinging her starknife at the creature.

I Jorland hate being lied to as much as I dislike comments about my height. I strike the impostor with a fury of vengeance! "Yar! Die deceiving creature!

Well, I hate to be a buzz kill. But I will do the initiative rolls for round one and take that as your attack. I wrote that Lina, Liu and Takeshi get an attack in the surprise round.

Takeshi's blades misses the because his foot slipped throwing his aim off, Liu's fans slashes the already bleeding monster and Lina's strike tears the monster's clothes but doesn't actually connect.

Volgorog grabs Takeshi and inserts its blood suckers into him.

"Get off of him!" Liu Na shouts as she slashes her fighting fan again at the creature grappling Takeshi.

Since the creature is grappling Takeshi it also has the grappled condition, giving it a -4 penalty to Dex but not making it susceptible to sneak attack damage.

Lina lets out a bit of a shriek when the creature changes form, but holds her ground and swings again.

Kalistrine shrugs off the surprise of the revelation as to the Halfling's true nature with surprising ease and raises her axe. "Hold still Takeshi." she says, before bringing the blade chopping down.

Liu's attack misses the oddly dancing Faceless stalkeer, whereas Lina starknife slashes it deeply. Kalistrine's axe barely misses by a hair.

Volgorog says, "I deserve a Home too!!!!!!"

Takeshi attempts to force the strange creature off of him and step away from it.

Takeshi moves his arms in between those of the Stalker pushes them up breaking his grip then pushes off from it with his feet falling to the floor.

Jorland then jumps in with his battleaxe, swinging high, connecting perfectly into the monsters juggular vein but almost cutting him in two, upon removal of the axe from the now corpse blood gushes like a little fountain and the body fall on the ground lifeless. Dosvidanya fake Proudstump!!!!

I look pitifully at the corpse of the faceless stalker. I clean my axe and proceed to harvest meat from the faceless stalker.

While carving up the Faceless Stalker, Jorland finds a masterwork bronze rapier, 37 Gold, and leather armor. I would say from the stalker you get a days worth of rations and you q up some of the parts for dinner.

The sun has just set.

You hear a creak from upstairs and hear "Hello!!!"

Kalistrine looks on with slight distaste as Jorland starts to butcher the creature, but does not refuse the meat if it comes time to eat it. When she hears the voice upstairs, she raises her axe again. "Another one?" she wonders aloud before moving to find the stairs and take the lead on the way up. "Who is it?" she calls up ahead of her. "We slew the Faceless Stalker."

I am Walthus Proudstu--mp, this is my home, who are you? You are not that beast's friends, are ye? He seems to be making a lot of racket upstairs mostly bouncing into things.
"You killed the Stalker, friends come up stairs please! I have been injured by thaaaaatttt thingy"

I clean my axe and proceed to harvest meat from the faceless stalker.

"Ummm... J? Are you really planning to eat that?" Liu Na asks slowly. Those who look closely notice that her complexion is beginning to take on a bit of a greenish tinge. "I would think that wouldn't sit too well on the stomach..."

I look at the others as I start to prepare dinner. "Never ate one dese befer. Won't know if it edible til we try it. I collected a few herbs and seasonings. If I cook it right it may taste similar to chicken. How else we discover whats good ta eat." I prapare the thing for dinner.

---Hearing Proudstump upstairs---

I look up. "Is dat da real him or more meat?"

Lina also squirms slighly at the butchering. "Do you...have to do that here?" After the voice from upstairs, she calls out [b]"We won't hurt you - as long as you're not one of them either." She tentatively starts to make her way towards the stairs.

Continue to RP on the way up the stairs but I'll move it upstairs.

As you make your way up the staircase to the second floor, you two door in front of you and an open door with the halfling standing in the doorway, he looks as if he is using the doorframe to prop himself up.

When he sees the group, he smiles widely but grimmaces in pain "Welcome, Welcome, I am the warden of Brinestump Marsh, if you'd like I can make you dinner, it looks as if it already getting dark, hmmmm, what day is it?"

Takeshi, a little weak from the blood loss, winces at Jorland's desire to attempt to eat the creature who only so recently looked like a halfling and also had partaken of Takeshi's blood.

"Count me out. One of these days you'll make a concoction so foul that people will be poisoned just smelling it. I'd rather not be nearby when it happens."

At the top of the stairs, Takeshi looks upon Walthus with some wariness, after having met the strange creature below.

"You look as injured as the other 'Proudstump' we met below. Are you truly Walthus Proudstump?"

"Why yes my friend, it looks as though he got you, too. I was feeding my snakes this morning and I came back inside and this stalker attacked me. We fought and I cut him really bad but then he had me pinned as I see he did to you but luckily for me he was bitten by one of my snakes which allowed me the opportunity to get into my safe room," he pauses to get a breath...

Upon encountering Walthus...

Liu Na listens warily as Takeshi talks with Walthus Proudstump. She perks up when Walthus offers to prepare dinner, and waits for him to pause in his rapid description of his battle with the faceless stalker to interject, "We'd hate to impose, but the offer of dinner sounds positively... delightful!" The half-elf glances nervously toward the stairs to the lower level, thinking of Jorland butchering the shapeshifter in the room below. "But before you do that, let's see about getting you and Takeshi here healed up. Lina?" she calls to the oracle. "We've got some injured folks up here. Could you help them out?"

"Yes, of course - I just....I wanted to be sure it was him before...I'm sorry. Here, I think I can see to that." Lina approaches the Proudstump, reaching out a hand and touching the wound. "Be whole." Nothing happens, and Lina burrows her brow in frustration. "Uh...one moment. Sorry." Pulling her hand back momentarily, she tries again. "Please be healed." Again, nothing. Her mind races, going back over what happened with the goblins and how she healed Kali. Getting an idea, she tries once more. "Desna make you whole." Warm energy flows through her into the halfling and his wounds reside. Are you REALLY going to make me say her name every time?!? Despite her success, she throws up her arms in frustration. "Aargh!" and stomps back downstairs.

Take it easy for a bit. Besides, we came lookin for your help in mappin out dis marsh so we can find greenskins an skin em. I also need ta see if there are any meals I can make out of em."[/b] I head over to the cooking area and start preparing the food.

The food comes out mediocre. For those who try it, it doesn't taste awful but it most definitely doesn't taste like chicken. "Could be worse a guess." I eat up regardless.

This is one of Jorland's most prevalent quirks. He eats ANYTHING. As long as it isn't a common place humanoid, expect him to try and make a meal of it.

After being touched, he gives Lina a smile and chuckles a bit as halflings often do. He pats her on the back and says, "You can do it."

After getting his healing, "Much abliged, ma'am! Before I cook dinner, I have something for y'all as a gift, it is a cloak of resistance +1 you can see the healing has given him back a little sugar in his step and he sprints back to his safe room and returns with the cloak and hands it to Lina. she just happens to be the closest

Walthus then makes his way to the kitchen, sees Jorland hacking up the stalker. I'll be making dinner, would you like to join? I hunted grouse this morning and I will be grilling up some gator shashlik!"

Keep the roleplay going

"Well thank you kind sir, I won't eat the stalker because that is my blood you are cooking, hahaha!" He gives the grouse and the alligator meat to Jorland to make and wheat for baking bread and so on.

During dinner, "First, thanks again! Yes I know the marsh like the back of my hand. Be my guest to stay the night in the guest rooms upstairs and I will head out with you in the morning."

don't forget the other things that the sherriff wanted done and Old Megus

"Greenskins, hmmm, thinking to himself out loud. "The old fish trail is where they are. What are your names by the way?"

"Kalistrine." she says between bites.

She eyes the Faceless Stalker meat, untouched by the others. It would have tried to kill you. What better revenge is there? Kalistrine looks at the others around the table. Only Jorland eats it, and it gives him a certain uncouth savagery. I don't think the others appreciate it.

During dinner, Lina takes a small portion of every dish on the table, including Jorland's concoction, but leaves it on the far side of her plate, trying not to seem rude for not trying it. "Oh, I'm sorry! I'm Lina, not to be confused with Liu Na over there."

For this encounter, everybody gets 360 points of xp. Just a reminder Takeshi took 1 point of Constitution damage

During dinner it becomes pitch black outside.

After everyone introduces themselves, Proudstump says,
Do you have any questions, you would like to ask me about the Marsh? Where are you guys from? Who sent you here? Why are you here?

Proudstump grabs a bottle of whisky out of the storage room and pours everyone a round. He calls for a toast "To the hero/ines of Brinestump!!!"

"Oh, I'm sorry! I'm Lina, not to be confused with Liu Na over there."

Liu Na bows respectfully in greeting to Walthus when introduced by Lina. "I'm Liu Na Pei. I work for Ameiko at the Rusty Dragon. Now that I think about it, I believe I may have served your drinks at that party. I'm glad we were able to help you today."

"Well, in addition to exterminating the Licktoad goblins, we've been asked by Koya Mvashti to deliver a letter to someone named Megus. Do you know where to find her?" Liu Na asks Walthus.

"Forgive my memory, I am still not 100%.

After eating some more and having the whisky, Old Megus, she is a very strange lady, haven't seen her in six months, but yeah I know how to get there. Shoot, even though I am the warden, this is her swamp. I've only been living here for five years, she has been living her for almost twenty."
