I agree Ikoma... JR seems to be cursed for me too- thanks Edwin for running as long as you did, and for being forthcoming about shutting it down instead of just disappearing. If you ever want to revisit the idea of running it, please pm me, as I love this ap would like to finish it someday.
Ikoma, Vermundr, Ogrin, I'll miss you guys too... maybe I'll see you in another game someday.

Well if it is any consolation JR is cursed for me as well. I ran the adventure path from start to finish from August 2012 to February this year and at the end one of my players was angry at how the campaign ended(although I think she was more angry at the other players and how they avoided the some fights to ally themselves with Ameiko's evil ancestors. and of course I told her "When you blow off the game, and don't give me reasonable heads up time to plan another adventure, the two chaotic players will make their choices.") From a critique of the AP, I feel that the motivation for players is a bit weak. You are supposed to follow a bartender across the northpole because she is supposedly the heiress to an empire on another continent, where she has never been, has a scarce idea of its culture or anything else. This AP is lets say two books too long. If they started the AP in Kalsgard, it would be a bit more cohesive and the third book would not be so much of a pain. If we had gotten that far, I would have spent most of the adventure writing mind numbing text littered with random encounter rolls.
I digress, I liked your characters and if given a month break, I might think about running the game starting from adventure 4... which could be a bit more fun... we'll see.

I guess that whole thing about following someone who is basically a stranger across the north pole to another continent is why the beginning seems so intent on forging relations between the pcs and the npcs... doesn't always work I guess.... anyway.. I'm here if you want to pick it up again.

I know where you're coming from. I ran a face to face game of Kingmaker up through book three and then a combination of ramp up at work and burnout made me abandon it. I've been considering picking it up again but starting from book four and cutting out all the kingdom building stuff and focusing on the story.
If you come back recharged and wanting to give it another shot, you know where to find us.

Absolutly. But some other APs have also a bit weak starts. Take Council of Thieves. You start as resistance. And at least in our game if you are not a full fledged loyalist to the crown... you loose.
But if you want to give at another shot, maybe start anew. Call. If you tell the players a bit about the problems, it is no problem to start with that background information. And every game is also a learning process.
You make mistakes, and if you have decent players, they tell you about it. Rome was neither build in one day!

To start the Jade Regent from the beginning for the fourth or would it be fifth time won't work for me. I ran the whole AP from start to finish once, but I started it two or three other times for different groups.
From book 4 minus a small part is really good... Books 5 and 6 are really good. This group is a solid one. I have run/been running a few campaigns here and I had only one really bad experience. A couple other games petered out. Serpent's Skull is a fave but it isn't conducive to Pbp, because the player's need to be a lot more proactive than other APs.
I really think the start at book 4 idea might work for me and I will take a break for a couple of weeks and then most likely restart towards the end of the month.
