"Technically this necropolis never belonged to the academy," Eveline ponders, "so this isn't graverobbing." She walks over to the sarcophagi and starts inspecting them for any clues, runes, or traps.

"That's a good point, Eveline" says Althera as she smiles at the diminutive ranger. "I think we can explore with a clear conscience. I must say that's the most talkative ghoul I've heard of. Still, I think it was just as savage as the rest in the end."

"Lionel, I'm so glad you made it through! You had me nearly as scared as Reed did before. You both deserve better than drowning in this dismal place."

She joins the search of the sarcophagi.

"Well, that went a bit weird. I guess ya were right though. Ain't got much experience with the dead, ya know.", Lionel looks a bit sad, but then he picks up his spear, and takes the jewelry off Bazuk's corpse.

At Eveline's comment about graverobbing, he chuckles and says, "Heh. Point o' view, point o' view."

Turning to Althera looking worried about him, he says, "I think I was the most scared 'bout ma skin, but it's good ta see folk care. The next time I take a shower though, is gonna be somewhere warmer. And soapier."

With Althera's permission, he'll take the wand and patch himself up.

Been outside it, once, they gotta massive pool, and rumor is, they gotta sorcerer ta heat it up.", he says, in a tone more informative than playful, with a hint of reminiscence.

Taking a deep breath, the reeking smell of Bazuk's corpse annoys his nose, and after double checking for left-over valuables, he tosses it in the waters below. If possible, if not, just in the farthest corner.

"I'ma just go and get me a normal bath at home after we done here. Or in the Lodge.", he continues, after moving the reeking body out of the way. He'll inspect the two eastern rooms, and help others in finding anything.

The stone sarcophagus lids seem to stuck and would need quite an effort to open them Strength DC 18.

Lionel throws the remains of the ghast through one of the biggest crackles in the ground. Meanwhile Demario looks for a good spot to hide behind one of the sarcophagus.

The first one in the bottom row though seems to slide more easily, and Lionel succeeds to push it open alone with a normal effort. When he opens it dust fills the air, it has been closed for a long long time.

The sarcophagus lid slides aside with the sound of a grinding millstone. The well-preserved body of a young girl lies inside, stringy black hair obscuring the face. Her atrophied limbs are drawn up like folded sticks against her torn school uniform.

Perception DC 15:

The girl has a ruby ring with a salamander in one of his fingers.

Heal DC 15:

Startling as it might seem the girl is still alive!

Detect magic+K. arcana DC 18:

The ring seems magic, as it has a faint conjuration aura.

Detect magic+Spellcraft DC 20:

The ring seems to have magic and it works as a ring of sustenance providing enough nourishing for one person.

Untrained in the other ones. Also, by 'appearing alive', do you mean, breathing, eating and talking person, or 'her body twitches'? They are quite different things, especially down here. I'm assuming that it's the first one.

Seeing a girl, Lionel is a bit surprised, but his eyes catch the salamander ring on her finger. "Smooth.", he says. Upon reaching the girl's hand to gently take the ring, he feels that the arm is warm, and jumps instinctively back.

"Heeell!" Turning to the others, he says, "Well, tha's what we're down here for, folks. I ain't gotta lie though, this girl is alive! And I mean a-live, alive, not jus one more stinkin' ghoul!"

Eveline is more than suspicious of Lionel's statement. "Hey, now think about it a little. If she's alive, she's been here for a decade, trapped under that drain you fell through. How can she be alive? she asks in a calm tone, not to aggravate anyone in this situation.

Eveline refrains from saying hello, staying in a safe distance. "Forgive me my prudence, but this place hasn't given us a single notion about safety."

The salamander ring on her finger has a conjuration aura, but I can't tell exactly what it does. I would leave it on her for now, just to be safe.

Iron Gods: Iron maps;

The girl doesn't seem to answer back. But touching her you see she is clearly alive, because she is still warm, and even if very faintly, she breathes.

By Lionel experience on treating traumas it seems she is in a clear coma state. The girl seems to be perhaps around 7 to 9 years old.

The most striking is her cloths seems widely deteriorated.

Profession (tailor) or Craft (cloths) DC 15:

The cloths are a bit old fashioned. Perhaps from 10 years ago.

Survival (tracks) DC 15:

By the dust and other marks, you can say this sarcophagus has been closed for at least some years. The other ones though, they seem to have remained closed millennia. An strength check will be needed in order to open them and check their contents.

Sense motives DC 15:

The face of the girl looks familiar. She has certain resemblance to Lady Dacilane. At least the cheeks resembles to hers.

"Perhaps this ring has kept her alive. Who knows? Let's get her and return her and the ring to Lady Dacilane. There are obviously mighty magics involved in this, and I would guess that the Lady has a few people she can call in to help."

If no one objects, Reed puts his axes away and reaches into the sarcophagus, gently putting his arms under the girl and lifting her up. "Let's go."

We should probably check the other coffins first before we take the girl out. Nigel says.

We can probably move the heavy coffin if all of us work together. We've gone this far, might as well deal with the rest of the place. Nigel says with a shrug.

Recognizing flawlessly the features of Lady Dacilane in the young girl, Lionel says excitedly, "Woah! That's the lady's kid! She's alive!"

Lionel will attempt to think of how to wake up the girl, and if possible, do it, informing others of his intentions.
Heal: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13 Aid Another welcome.

Before they wake her up, though, Lionel goes and tries to push open the sarcophagi, taking as much time as he needs. Taking 20 for 24, or taking 10 with 2 aid anothers.

"We're here anyway, but ya might wanna consider standing behin' me with a big stick. ya know, in case. Demario, brother, can ya mind the two staircases in the other room? We don' wanna the ghouls showin' their rottin' faces again, do we? If ya feel like it, ya can peep what's up there, but I ain't wanna give orders.", he says, grinning, as he goes to the next one and begins looking it up for a place to open it from.

Iron Gods: Iron maps;

Lionel and Nigel carefully open the other sarcophagi. Within, the following treasures lie beside mummified remains: a set of polished silver plates each with the decorative bust of a Taldan noble rising from its center like a man from a mercury pool (1,400 gp) and a gold-plated, ceremonial longsword (300 gp).

Reed takes the girl in his arms and gently carries her towards the exit. On the way out, the party finds Deris Marlinchen in the room with the children circle. He is kneeled in front of the girl with a smile from side to side. The man turns to you and say "I see you found what you were looking for in the end. Have good luck." he greets you ignoring for the rest whether you continue the way out to Lady Dacilane house or stay trying to talk to him.

"Ya gonna be alright, brother?", asks Lionel, carrying a heavy bag up the stairs, slowing down to speak to him. As Deris looks at the children and his daughter, in particular, Lionel smiles and keeps going. "We hope ta see ya soon, everyone. Don't worry, be happy!"

Heh. Who cares if he's crazy. He looks happy, which is more than ya can say about a lot of sane folks., thinks Lionel, the expression of a job well done on his face. The noise of metal hitting metal in a bag is heard from him as he moves, whistling a tune.

I'm assuming, perhaps wrongly, that we're done with the necropolis. Just clarifying, I'd like to search every other room in the place as well, such as stairs to the left and right, but if it'd take too much time, I don't care for it.

Reed cradles the child on the way out, thinking of how pleased Lady Dacilane will be to find her child still alive. His features contort into a sorrowful smile as he notes Deris so happy with his 'daughter'. Eveline follows the others, constantly wary of the girl. On their way out she glances at Deris, shaking her head and moves out. Further away she taps on Reed's leg. "Didn't you want to take him, Deris, to some asylum of sorts? He doesn't seem keen on leaving, what if he stays there?"

Althera is filled with a great sense of joy at finding the girl still alive. She is a bit skeptical at first, but takes the others at their word.

As she sees Reed carry the young girl away, tears again come to her eyes. After a short moment, she joins the others in fully exploring the necropolis, her sense of duty helping her to stay focused.

She speaks to her companions, now bound together through common trial.

"I can only imagine how overjoyed Lady Darcilena will feel to see her daughter again! I know the risks were great, but this has to make our struggle worthwhile. Though I am very glad we didn't lose Reed or Lionel to those monsters. I was proud to undertake this assignment with all of you."

To Reed and Eveline: "I know that we didn't exactly see eye to eye at the beginning. Please understand that I did not try to use deceit as a tool merely to further my own ends. I simply prefer to avoid hostilities when possible."

To Lionel: "As to that creature that spoke to us, I must confess to acting more out of fear than logic, perhaps. I am glad things turned out alright. As a way of making thing up to you, I'll let you give me one of those massages you were offering earlier."

Her smile is sincere, and her apologies genuine.

Outside in the fresh air, Lionel decides to spoil it by lighting up a cigarette. Turning towards the others, he says to Eveline, telling Reed about taking Deris about an asylum, "Heh, I think our brotha over there,", and he takes a deep draw, pointing at Deris, "is quite the happy man. I ain't one to break any illusions that ain't hurtin' noone."

Leaning on a wall, he takes another hit and says to Althera, "Hehe. Don'cha worry, dove, this brother ain't dyin' no time soon! And neither is my man Reed, if he keeps 'round!", patting the ranger on the back enthusiastically.

As she mentions the kid, Lionel gives his grin and replies, "I reckon she gonna be over dem walls, in her way. All we need ta do now is show up and give 'er the little lady. Hope someone more wisar than me can wake 'er up. As for da massage, I can do ya one better, I know this hole in the Ivy District. Nice food, hot baths, and a damn fine massage. Unless ya want a personal one. And, best part is, I think we can get Her Ladyship ta pay for the night out.", he says, ending the suggestion for a relaxed night out in a posh district, paid by the patron. He looks at everyone, flicks the butt of the cigarette in the dark, murky water and shoulders the bag of plates.

"Sounds game ta ya?"

Eveline still ponders the offer, not too confident about going to have a massage. Then again after a nightly spelunking in a necropolis teeming with undead creatures, she'd want something nice for a change.

"Show the way, but only after we've delivered our report to Drandle Dreng. And let's not forget to mention Deris to our captain as well. He might be illegally trespassing on this soil, so the noble families might want to check his background."

Eveline takes a last glance at the Drownyard, hoping she doesn't have to come back, at least not any time soon.

First thing tomorrow, I'm buying myself proper, tailored clothes.

The party give a sight to some of the alternative tunnels before fully leaving the Necropolis. Most of them are blocked, some continue to an empty crypt, but nothing of clear interest to you is found. Perhaps some of the Society sages will get much more from proper investigation of the place though.

Later in Lady Dacilane holds, you are received first with surprise, then with scepticism, and finally with great cheers and hero shouts as they discover little Junia is in fact still alive.

"I don't know how can I repay for what have you done." the woman express still with drops at her eyes once the child is secured with private doctors which assure the girl will recover from the comma "I never hoped for such a blessing. I will personally make sure your supervisors know about your deeds and you are properly rewarded. I will include a generous sum for the Society to fund an even greater expedition to the Necropolis and document all the history found there. I would let them know my desire for a part of this amount to directly hit your own funds."

The woman seems authentically grateful, and no one in the house seems to note the dust, sweat and other natured smears in your close anymore "There is one final striking fact that hit my mind when I first my little girl back, how has she been able to survive son long there alone, and how is it she is still like 10 years ago?"

We did take the ring before, right? If not:

"We have only guesses for now, ma'am," Eveline speaks, disregarding lady Dacilane's previous disdain for the common folk, "but we suspect the reason is within that ring. It would be best to have the society determine its magics and effects."

Iron Gods: Iron maps;

"By sure, you can keep it." Lady Dacilane lets Eveline take and keep the ring with her, once the girl is save.

Iron Gods: Iron maps;

Later that day you take the salamander ring to the Grand Lodge, where you return it to the Pathfinder Society. They are naturally pleased at acquiring such an important artifact and Venture-Captain Drenge personally thanks you for your service to the Society "You showed guts and wit at equal parts, and made a great service to the Society. You can count to be promoted for even dangerous missions for now on." his eyes seems to bright as he foresees your future in the organization.

The other parents, upon hearing that there was a miraculous survivor after all these years, mob the Tri-Towers Yard in an attempt to gain access to the necropolis. Absalom’s city watch is called in to quiet the disturbance and sends in a team to search for additional survivors. Of course, there are none.

The party feast for a time together, enjoying the well deserved rewards and the success of your mission. How long will you have to wait until a new assignment is given for you to take responsability of?
