Cela produces an apple from her pack and and speaks softly to the angry half-primate. Anaba descends from the ceiling approaches cautiously and plucks the apple from Cela's hand. She crunches the fruit loudly with her fangs while keeping an eye out for any quick movements. The ape-girl relaxes and seems no longer hostile to the party. Perhaps she will follow these folks around who carry delicious treats... they seem friendly enough.
Fernleaf, face-covered, enters the room and follows Buchart around detecting for traps as Buchart looks for magic. The two find neither.
What could possibly be behind these doors...
Party up!
Buchart |
As Buchart and Fernleaf search the hall, Buchart starts thinking, in a voice that sounds like a high pitched David Niven,"I wonder what sort of arcane transformation forces have stumbled upon. We should study our beastly friend. Peehaps the effect is only temporary?" And as he walks back out of the hallway he turns to Cela and Anabeast and says,
Cela, perhaps our friend can be of help us out greatly. She seems to want to go up. Perhaps her transformation and her need to climb are related in some way. I think we should find some stairs.
Buchart turns toward Fernleaf and points to the door on the right as he faces down the long hallway and says...
I think we should tour the Beasts of Legend Exhibit!
Buchart |
OK. The edit function isn' working on my phone, so...in the first ooc, should be transformational, we before stumbled, and a question mark, of course. Then should be perhaps rather than peehaps. Whatever those are.
In first icc, remove "be of" and it makes much more sense.
Mmm. Doughnuts!
Stetrix |
Rolande and Buchart move near the doors while Fernleaf presses his ear against the eastern door and listens for any sounds on the other side. A large placard above the entryway to this hall reads “Hunting
the Beasts of Legend” in great block letters.
Cela sees no easy purchase for her cat to climb in the room. Her pet paces nervously back and forth by the entrance. Do you wish to have her remain outside or enter?
Anaba seems less annoyed at the party and wonders what other treats Cela has in her backpack.
Fernleaf listens intently and is confident that there are no traps and nothing is moving about or making any noise on the other side of the door.
The door appears to be unlocked. Do you wish to open it?
Stetrix |
You look from the hallway in the room:
This gigantic chamber is relatively free of mist, and darkness is held at bay by braziers of radiant light. Behemoths occupy these halls, great taxidermy nightmares such as a two-headed bear easily taller than an ogre; a great desiccated beetle, its carapace larger than the face of the clock tower of Absalom’s Clockwork Cathedral; a massive specimen of chimera, its jaws open in a mock roar; and an assembled skeleton of a tyrant lizard. The walls here are studded with strange masks, staves, spears, and other implements of long forgotten cultures, most likely used in ritual hunts of the beasts preserved here.
Party Up!!
Stetrix |
On the north wall there are two closed doors 30' apart. All is silent and nothing is moving. After spending 5 minutes staring at the creatures you seem satisfied that they are not alive or animated at least at this point.
Party up! Will the party enter the room or continue to glare cautiously at the displays in the "Hunting the Beasts of Legend" hall? If you have buffs that expire please note: You are moving very slowly and cautiously.
Stetrix |
The party moves into the room cautiously keeping an eye open on the large taxidermy displays. Thankfully nothing moves and you make your way across the large exhibit hall to check the doors on the North side.
The party scan the area for enemies, but does not see anything.
Anaba Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (12) + 0 = 12
Buchart Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (12) + 0 = 12
Cella Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Fernleaf Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Rolande Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
As the party approaches the closest door a pair of helm-like masks mounted on the wall begin to crack and slough their stony outer layer. Unfortunately the party failed to notice the cracking masks as their attention was on the taxidermied behemoths. On the following round, two flying creatures with blackened bat-wings and a fiend's head with tentacles dangling from their chin and scalp fly toward the party. Their fanged mouths hangs agape as they burst free in a shower of dust and stone shards to attack.

Fernleaf fires his bow, but the arrow flies wide and shatters against the wall.

Rolande dives forward, rolls and fires at the closest creature from 20' away delivering a solid hit and it squeals in pain from the fire and bullet wound.
Regain the grit point you lost
The creatures flap their wings to 30' above the floor, well out of melee range. Both open their jaws wide and shriek.
Everyone (except Cela's Lioness) needs to make two DC 12 Fortitude saving throws or be paralyzed for 2d4 rounds.

on my initiative i cast touch of combustion on nearest flying creature
Lion will be doing "Defend" attack also if one comes close enough
Unfortunately touch of combustion is a touch attack and the creatures are out of range. Your lioness paces back and forth by the front door ready to come quickly to your call. You were worried about the mists affects on her, so she never entered the museum.
CASTING
Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S
EFFECT
Range touch
Target creature or object touched
Duration instantaneous
Saving Throw Reflex negates; see text; Spell Resistance yes
DESCRIPTION
Your successful melee touch attack causes the target to ignite in a violent burst of flame, dealing 1d6 points of fire damage. If it fails its saving throw, the target also catches on fire. If the target catches fire, on the first round thereafter, creatures adjacent to it (including you) must each succeed at a Reflex save or take 1d4 points of fire damage.

Rolande fights off the effects from one of the creatures, but succumbs to the paralyzing screech of the other and is held firm for
Paralysis: 2d4 ⇒ (3, 2) = 5 rounds.
Buchart sinks an arrow deep into the least wounded creature
Anaba also ignores the paralysis and climbs on top of the largest stuffed creature (damaging the display a bit, but she doesn't really care). She jumps off oddity and swings her fists at the flying creature. Make a roll to hit
Fernleaf shakes off the paralyzing shriek and fires his bow hitting the same creature Buchart hit.
Cela is up and Anaba (roll to hit)

Anaba acrobatics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Anaba not liking these screeching creatures at all, takes an angry flying leap off the tallest of the taxidermy displays and slams it with her fist. The batlike monster spins lifelessly through the air before landing across the room with a splattery thud. Anaba growls ferociously mid-air and finishes off the leap from 30' up by bouncing between displays then landing on her feet taking no damage. She glares at the other creature ready for more action.

Cela spear@ -2 for range: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 3 - 2 = 10
The creature moves to the side and the spear misses it's target
The creature swoops down, his jaw unhinges to reveal rows of razor sharp teeth and attacks the helpless Rolande trying to bite him
Flying Creature: 1d20 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 4 = 14 the attack is just enough to penetrate his armor.
Rolande take bite: 1d4 ⇒ 3 and make a DC 12 Fortitude save

Buchart swings for the fences and misses, as Rolande feels the wind from the blade come precariously close to his head.
Rolande realizes he is no longer paralyzed after being attacked and may now return the favor. His bite wound is quickly festering and now the damage may only be healed with magic if the spellcaster first succeeds on a DC 20 caster level check.
